American mashup mastermind Girl Talk released his new album All Day for free. Another fine mashup of pop songs. Travis McLeskey created a player with which you can actually see what samples are playing as you listen to the album. Just like he did with Feed The Animals.
Can’t wait for TRON (December 17). To keep the fans happy (and the blogs writing) a new Daft Punk track has been released. They also make a cameo appearance in the video, in which they’ve changed from fine musicians into sharp looking torturers (the quote “electrify the boys & girls” could also mean they’re still DJ’s, which would be kind of boring).
Since Harald is not around to post Momkai’s latest opus himself… A new website for Dutch singer/mc Pete Philly that will double as an album. A new track will be added weekly. So it’s free music, in one of the fanciest music players on the web. Super slowmo, low saturated footage by Momkai & Daniel Ashes accompanies each song, no editting, just the footage and the music. Tight.

The Roots released at the end of June a new album and I must say I really like it. On this album I found the perfect song to keep your focus on the final on Sunday. After releasing his first album Daydreams through Appletree Records, Haarlem based producer Sotu The Traveller is now pushing his music independently on Bandcamp. With his second album Left, Sotu took a sharp turn and surprised me with a new, electronic but warm sound.

I just read about a nice initiative in Het Parool (for which we recently did a new campaign by the way). Since a while Holland suffers from an anoing guy called Geert Wilders. Yup, the dork who ‘directed’ Fitna. It’s difficult to find a way to deal with such a prick, but The Geert Wilders are trying very hard.

Equipo used some very nice techniques to create a music video for Five Years Older‘s latest song ‘The City’. I love how it looks like nothing I’ve seen before, original stuff!
Yes, as mentioned, we’ve seen it before: music videos with people stripping down the street. But not Miss Badu, doing it to get her message across in a familiar historic place. It’s the video for ‘Window Seat’, the first single of her new album ‘New Amerykah Part Two: Return Of The Ankh’, which can be listened to right here.
In a 50s esque design and illustration style Pavel Fuksa created 178(!) matchbox prints to the lyrics of ‘My Place’, a song by fellow Praguians Navigators. As always, hard work pays off. The video is linked below, the designs can be viewed separately on Flickr. Praha stand up!
This is the track I’ve heard 49 times today. I love it, it’s from a Danish band called Efterklang. The album’s name = Magic Chairs. Nothing wrong with that title.

He is a hilarious, creative and musically gifted performer combining stand up comedy with live music created only using his voice, samplers and effects. The same energy doesn’t quite come across through recorded music and video, but I hope you can still enjoy his latest.

French record label Record Makers celebrates its 10th aniversary with this video for Sebastian Tellier song ‘Look’. It was made by Mrzyk & Moriceau who also designed the accompanying iPhone app, which lets you create random art and has sound effects by Mr Oizo.
Yet another quality music video: You probably remember OK Go from the threadmill video, which gave them instant fame. For their latest effort they teamed up with director James Frost and Syyn Labs to create the impossible.
The new Gorillaz single sports a slow electronic groove, Mos Def and legendary soul singer Bobby Womack. The Jamie Hewlett directed video features fancy camera work, fast cars and Bruce Willis firing rounds at the Gorillaz characters, animated by Passion Pictures. Nice! Plastic Beach, the upcoming album, can be pre-ordered from all the big resellers.
