A great little game for type-geeks like us. Well crafted by Canadian Interaction Designer Mark MacKay for Method of Action. Feel free to post your score below.

Game studio Naughty Dog revealed their new franchise, The Last of Us, a post-apocalyptic I Am Legend meets The Road like adventure. Details are still pretty slim. Maybe this means the end of their brilliant Uncharted series. Joel, the rough-and-tumble survivalist in the trailer, even looks a bit like an older version of Drake.

Probably the most controversial project I’ve ever done, but fortunately it was for the good cause. For The Gardeners I made this fictitious game trailer about how to become a fortunate slavetrader. It was their pr stunt for the upcoming NTR series about slavery. With worldwide WTFs and freaked reactions as result. Credits also to Stijlbende (Design) and Kramps (illustrations).

Apptoyz is a new concept in fun. They use the iPhone and iPod touch and combine them with physical toys. Take a look at the appBlaster, appCopter, appRacer and the appWheel.

Modern Warfare is back. No. 3 is coming November 8 delivering with it mammoth battles that engulf a dozen cities around the world including Berlin, Paris, London, Prague, Dubai and New York. There’s even a reference to SEAL Team Six in an audio file that was part of a larger leak of presumed MW3 material on Kotaku.

Later this year, From Dust, a new title by French game designer Éric Chahi is expected to come out. Ubisoft have released a developer diary dealing with the art of this upcoming sandbox simulation, in which nature itself plays a dominant role. I’m not sure about the game’s graphics yet, but the concept art looks stunning.

I’m not usually into these types of games, but when the Internet is your playground and a lot of nicely integrated (Flash) moments fly by, this Magnum game actually becomes quite fun.

Another great collection is the digitalized one of classic handheld electronic games. The creative Polish studio Hipopotam created a really great, basic site where you can browse handheld game consoles like the Russian ‘Autoslalom‘ or the Taiwanese ‘Coffee House‘ plus you can actually play them.

Tired of playing with birds on your iPhone? Check out Poto & Cabenga, a single button game in which you are controlling two characters at once. The game’s illustrations are made by London-based Richard Hogg.
The game industry is booming, see this trailer from the game Dead Island. Put it on fullscreen and enjoy!

Game Informer created in depth articles on the upcoming role-playing epic The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Besides an interesting interview with director Todd Howard they talked with Mark Lampert, audio director at Bethesda Game Studios, and the chief architect of the aural experience players will encounter in Skyrim.

Sometimes you notice details in a new game trailer that lets it stand out. There was one in this video from (taking forever) Gran Turismo 5: the moment when the car comes out of the tunnel the rain hits the window and gets mixed with dirt that shoots up at the same time. Which makes you eager to get all Ken-Block-like on this one.

Now everybody’s knows Foursquare, it’s time for the next smarter level. Multiplayer game Chromaroma uses passive check-ins from London’s Oyster Card. Produced by cross-platform production company Mudlark. Similarly Epicmix turns your skipass into a gamecard. Anyone up for the first OV Chipcard MMORPG?

What if you combine the interactive commands technique like Subservient Chicken with a YouTube takeover like The Expandables? You get a brilliantly simpel and fun campaign for Tipp Ex.

Check out this wicked game full of online challenges for Google Chrome. It’s interactive, on product, challenging and fun. I love it!

To all you bike fanatics out there: I want to share our latest Skoda production. On the 3rd of july ‘le Tour‘ will start in Rotterdam and finsh on the 25th in Paris. If want to know what is the role of Skoda in the Tour, or if you want to win tickets to the finish? Play the game. Sound by Big Orange, code by Thispagecannotbefound. Hope you like it!

With the summer coming up, we are getting ready for the holidays. Time to practice packing the car. For insurance company Centraal Beheer Achmea, Tribal DDB Amsterdam developed AutoStouwen, a Tetris-like game on packing your car. Easter-eggs get your higher score, plus you can win cash. So what about your car packing skills?

On the E3 this year the epic trailer for the futuristic game Deus Ex was released. I’m no fan of that main character but visually it’s a great trailer as you can expect from the creative powers at Square Enix. It’s like Ghost in the Shell meets Blade Runner. Click here for more realtime screenshots of this PS3, Xbox, and PC game.

This new Mario Kart has real power-ups with sensors. Your controller has a small bar for power-ups; as you run over sensor, you’re assigned one of them. There’s bananas, green shells, mushrooms and even lightning. A mushroom would make you go faster and lightning would, when you touch another cart, make it spin off.

Earlier this month game developer Media Molecule released a trailer that reveals new features in the upcoming version of award-wining game Little Big Planet. LBP2 will be released later this year and only for PS3.

This is for all design professionals. X-Rite, global leader in color standards (they own Pantone), has a little color challenge for you. Can you get the perfect score?

Limbo is a side scrolling game currently in development by Danish game designers Playdead. There’s not much to see yet, apart form this tiny size official site. It’s coming to Xbox Live Arcade and from the looks of it the game will feature a cool and intriguing dark fairytale atmosphere.

While watching an episode of GT TV on the new God of War, a video of Joe Danger came by and now I can’t wait to get that game. It looks like a mix of Mario Kart meets Little Big Planet meets Paper Boy meets Stunt Car Racer. It’s a downloadable game by Hello, who are just four young guys making their first official game together.

It’s a long time after the first news about Alan Wake was released. On the fine blog Kotaku appeared a new trailer. Still really curious for this one, looks a bit like playing a thriller or horror, the genre Silent Hill claimed. The new game Heavy Rain has a fresh movie-like approach as well, I wonder how that gaming experience is.

This is a game where 120 pads communicate and listen to each other in an organic network. Each pad is independent, and simultaneously interacts and listens to its environment based on user feedback. Together, the pads create complex, surprising, and unpredictable color arrays with their user participants.

Good example of how video games can be played in the future using AR. I thought people phoning with their invisible headset where strange, can’t wait to see these guys roam the street!

Augmented reality is everywhere, the game eyepet has been released a while ago but has some amazing tech stuff. Most impressive is the technology to turn your drawings into 3d objects that the pet can ride & play with.

German designer Patrick Molnar had some time and made a great overview of the game consoles owned by Phil Penninger, or as he puts it ‘der Katalog zu einer Videokonsolen-Sammlung von seinerzeit 145 Video-spiele-Systemen’. Yes, this is a nerd post.

Again North Kingdom lives up to the high expectations they have for each project. This time it’s an online football (soccer) game for Adidas, supporting the german team a.k.a. Die Mannshaft. The graphic novel vibe, combined with video and 3D works very well. It’s a strategic game with elements that require perfect timing.
