This afternoon in the Trouw building in Amsterdam Alter Ego took place, an expo by photographer Melissa Scholten. She portrayed 120 Dutch graffiti writers, old school kings and less know writers. Music by Serch and Suez, Cat22 and Zender, and opening words by Diana Ozon. A great get together – respect to Melissa for throwing this initiative.
On saturday the 14th of august it’s time for the second edition of Stekker Fest in Utrecht. Douwe Dijkstra was asked to create a videoflyer for the festival and he did a great job! Make sure you check out his other videoflyers.
Just came back from OFFF, the yearly (motion) graphic festival this time held in Paris. Inspiring stuff! This year the opening titles came from The Mill, but check also the funny and fresh sponsor titles by Julien Vallée (check also DanceDanse.) Besides the well known Dveins and Firstborns from this world, surprisingly new came from Lullatone and Casper Electronics’ magic ball.
The next World Cup will be in Brasil. But the ones after that, in 2018 and 2022, aren’t yet selected. A couple of nations are trying to impress the jury. And Qatar kind of does with their stadium proposals. The first two are aesthetically good, the last one is made of screens which creates great opportunities for an animated skin.
This 16th of June Adobe User Group brings you some great speakers. On stage we have: Concrete Amsterdam, with impressing architectural projects around the globe, and Pete Matthews from Frog Design famous for his ‘concept-car’, vision projects for Phillips. N8 is known for Amsterdam’s Museumnacht and more recently Edits which shows huge works inspired by museums, at the Central Station. Another event would be Nachtsalon and on May 28th, at the Amsterdam Historical Museum, its theme is the red-light district. The program includes 14 meter long artwork The Hoerengracht, music by SÆLORS, short movie Caresse, a performance by Bojana aka The Gunmother and much more.
After just coming back from a great week in an apartment in Rome with my girl I turn my city trip game around completely. No more hotels or hostels. Last week opened Speed of Light, a series of installations by United Visual Artists commissioned by Virgin Media to celebrate “the tenth anniversary of broadband in the UK”. Very nice photos on Creative Review blog.
Haat & Nijd, Hate & Envy is a little magazine initiated together with the guys from HOAX and 16 other designers and illustrators from Utrecht. The release is april 15, 2010 in Cafe het Hart in Utrecht and music is delivered by Zick Zack.
For the second year The Saints created a Mobile Guide for de Haagse Koninginnenach. New and fresh, we are getting ready for the Festival Season.
Hanazuki Studio was asked to create an experience, ’something different’ for ID&T’s Defqon, one of the biggest hardcore festivals in the world. In 11 rooms you can discover the DJ’s via minigames, a mix between Papervision, Flash and ActionScript 1, 2 and 3. ‘Monthy Python meets Mad Max’ style. Some hate it, some love it.
At TEDx Austin, Mark Rolston (CCO at frog design) poses an interesting question: “Would you give an eye to see through satellites?”.
To celebrate 65 years since the liberation of The Netherlands, this special exhibition was commissioned in a train which will be driving around Holland for the next 5 weeks. Made by the good folks at BlackMagicMarker . You can see some pics of the exhibition or watch the opening.

Wearing my NewShirt with pride here at SXSW interactive, the largest interactive conference in the world. Every year Pepsico creates an amazing mash-up that tries to keep up with the 14.000 (!) attendants. Oh and I’m doing some guerilla stickering of course.

Last week the third edition of FITC Amsterdam took place and the event was kicked off by showing the opening leader, a great animation that everyone should see. It’s designed and directed by Soulbase, graphic design was done by Drön (ex-Farb), character animation by Air Rebels and character rigging by NMtrix.

The FWA shows the best in cutting-edge interactive work worldwide. A special jury consisting of 80 members from more then 17 countries picks the best site of the year.
