Thanks everyone for attending the New Drinks blast last night. I had a great time, saw a lot of new faces, received kick-ass NW cards and got pretty smashed thanks to our booze sponsors Achtung, Flow, Resoluut, Dog & Pony, Momkai and Noise. Hope you had a good one too.

Last week fellow new worker Daniel and I went to an inspiring seminar by Creative Social at Eurobest . Ted Persson & Tony Hogqvist gave a presentation about how ‘Digital is dead’ and who are the main suspects. You can read a summery of the presentation on their blog.

This German creative legend, responsible for landmark designs like the SK 61, has a big influence on other designers. Now there’s an exhibiton about his work, spanning more then 50 years, in the museum that never disappoints me. Definitely watch Objectified as well to see a classic performance by mr. Rams in his garden.

Cool – we are nominated for the Dutch Bloggies in the category Arts, Culture & Entertainment, and the category Best Design. Jury will decide on December 1st, so bear with us.

Band of Brothers definitely was the last series I ferociously followed on TV. Old school, obeying the schedule. In 2010 Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Hanks will return with The Pacific, a mini-series about the dirty war in – what else? – the Pacific.

The London Design Festival is in its 7th year. Fellow NewWorker Jeroen and yours truly will go again as it promises an unique blend of up to 200 events, like Designersblock or Size + Matter, taking place in the capital which claims to be the heart of the design world. Note: the identity by Pentagram is a bit uninspired.

Starting today, Joe Holbrook has an exhibition at the Room of Red Bull, Amsterdam. His steelo is inspired by night life and graffiti and consists of cool portraits.

An expo that’s suitable for both gamers and art lovers, not to mention art loving gamers. The concept art by Guerilla Games for Killzone 2 is on display in Gallerie 37 in Haarlem and shows beautiful sinister worlds. I read a review in a respectable newspaper that even made the connection with the work of William Turner.

Coming up this August is the Open Air Film Festival Amsterdam at the Stenen Hoofd near Central Station. Out of experience I can say this is a great, little film festival under the night sky with beach chairs and more importantly: great national & international films and documentaries. Did I already say the entrance is free?

Our neighbour across the street from the studio is NEMO, a center of five floors packed with scientific and technological things to discover. This summer they have a special exhibition all about robots. I myself definitely want to see the one on display of Chris Cunningham’s Björk video entiteld All is full of love (check in HD 720p).

In 1988 someone asked:
“What about Coca Cola using their distribution channels to distribute rehydration salts?”
Sounds like a plan.

Yesterday I was talking to Addikt and saw their work for Sebastian. It wasn’t posted here yet so I couldn’t resist. It’s the design of a stage and all on screen content at an event in the Gashouder. I’m especially a big fan of the half circle abstract led animation in video 3 combined with a sort of Baltimore remix of Daft Punk’s Robot Rock.

Once again from uniqlo a very cool project called ‘Calendar’. Very simple, good music and beautiful video. I really like the depth of field. It makes everything look like miniature.
