New FWA site

Belgian agency Group94 was asked to design and develop the new website for The Favourite Website Awards (FWA), an international awards program for cutting-edge interactive work. Group94 themselves are 3rd on the list of FWA winning agencies with 44 awards so they know what it takes. They did an excellent job.

Why in Flash? I don’t see a reason?

Jup, was wondering about that too. I don’t mean to hate or be negative or anything, but I was actually quite disappointed.
That strange header navigation where you have to move your mouse twice, chaotic typography, an overall ’slow’ feel. I don’t know, was just not what I expected.
I’m sure it’s largely due to feedback, and not the initial choices of Group94 though. :)

I tend to agree. It doesnt feel like a step forward. it also seems that it was ‘inspired’ by http://www.thecssawards.com/
see for yourself.

Just visited for the first time and you have to give new things time however I agree with all of the above.

Anticipated something more contemporary. This feels like an alternative option to the last site not a progression.

I found the old site better too. Gave you more of an overview in one glance. Don’t really see how this is an improvement.

Sorry guys, I really don’t care for the new FWA site. Should of just polished the old layout up a bit instead.

Not convinced about the decision to change the thumbnail ordering either. Top down…WTF? The dot pattern is a little distracting.
