Flash CS5 will be able to 'export as iPhone app' though. So no flash in the browser, but in the app store (where apple controls it :))

Ofcourse some of us are a bit 'disappointed' somehow. Because we already new for quite a bit of time that this thing was coming, so expectations where high. I still think this thing will be revolutionary - not only for the prepaid 3g - but also for the fashion, entertainment, movie, books and gaming industry. It's more than a big iPod touch IMHO.

I still can't wait to hold one to experience it myself.

And about flash-support, I think Apple just want to keep it clean and simple to use. That's the reason they didn't put OSX on it, because they want the thing to be good and not just another touchscreen device. If they're gonna support Flash on it they can't keep track of what will be shown on it, with apps and books they can, a good strategy i think. They create a new platform, now be creative.

@Party2k: I think this is an interesting discussion. And 'reactions' is the perfect place to have it.

I really like that Apple is always pushing the boundaries with their new products. And I think the disappointment felt by a lot of people (including me) is that the iPad doesn't feel as revolutionary as the iPhone. Maybe we're all getting a little spoiled?

@patrick: that's because multitasking doesn't work on such a small device. Apple could have done that, but then the interface shouldn't run that smooth.

Besides the Flash issue (which I don't really mind, although I can't help thinking "how hard can that be?"), I think it's just not so comfortable in use. Imagine typing with two hands with the iPad on your lap.

And it's a bit expensive :)

Before you read my comment, I don't mean this in a bad way, I'm just summarizing what is happening:

It looks like nobody cares about Flash on the iPhone, except the Flash Developers themselves. The same will happen with the iPad:

- On the left side (Rich Internet Applications) Flash gets overtaken by Javscript, HTML and CSS3
- On the right side (gaming, real apps) Flash gets overtaken by native iPhone/Android/iPad apps.

It's not that users "want to use Flash", they want to have great apps, games and a great user experience. They still have that, so why would they care?

Flash Developers are way to focused on technique itself, there is a great need and tons of work for Creative Developers on these platforms. The Flash community has everything the App store is looking for, go for it guys!
